Registering for Medicare Online Claiming (DVA Community Nursing) through Claiming.com.au

Getting started

To utilise Lookouts integrated bulk DVA claiming with Medicare, a provider must associate a new or existing 'Medicare Provider Number' with a 'Minor Location ID' generated by Lookout.

We recommend that you ask your Medicare representative before completing any forms to confirm what is required. The forms below may not suit your situation.

It is recommended to get a new provider number for this integration rather than transitioning an old one. The reason is that creating a new provider number ensures you can still claim through your legacy system until you go live on Lookout. If you used an existing provider number, your legacy system would stop working for claims when Services Australia process the request.

  1. Request a Minor Location ID from your Lookout representative.

  2. Submit the forms to Medicare to process:

    1. Application for a Medicare provider number and/or prescriber number for a medical practitioner form (HW019) – to request a new provider number.

    2. Online Claiming Banking Details (HW052) - to connect your bank account details to the Lookout supplied (Minor ID). Once new provider number has been confirmed.

    3. Online Claiming Provider Agreement (HW027) - to connect your provider number(s) to the Lookout supplied (Minor ID). Once new provider number has been confirmed.

      1. When filling out the HW027 form, leave question 3 blank (relating to a PKI certificate or an RA number).

  3. Share your 'Medicare Provider number' with your Lookout representative who will verify the required settings and enable the integration.
