Establish the membership funder's profile sync between Xero and Lookout

* Currently, only the profile data of Membership funders will synchronize between the two systems.

To connect with Xero, Lookout needs a Client ID and Client Secret that can be obtained from within Xero. After sharing these details, a member of the Lookout Team will set up the integration for you.

The connected integration has two statuses:

  • Enabled: When the Xero Integration is enabled for the first time or re-enabled after being disabled, it syncs all unarchived Membership funders' profiles with Xero.

    While enabled, changes to a membership funder's profile will be synced to Xero.

  • Not Enabled: While disabled, it will not update ANY membership funder profiles with Xero.

Instructions

Log in to the My Apps area of Xero and click New App.

Add details for your new app:

  • Give the integration a name, something like 'Lookout Sync'.

  • Select Custom connection as the integration type.

  • Put in the company URL.

  • Agree and accept T&C’s.

  • Click Create app.

Under the Scopes dropdown, tick only accounting.contacts and untick everything else. Click Save and connect. You will be sent an email.

After clicking the Connect button in the email, you will be taken to a consent screen displaying the requested scopes. Select the organisation and click Allow access.

You need to have purchased a custom connection subscription to appear in this list.

Once the custom connection has been authorised, return to the My Apps area of Xero. Click on your newly created app.

Click the Configuration link on the left, and your Client ID will be visible.

Click on Generate a secrete, which will reveal your Client Secret.

Make sure to copy and paste your new secret immediately in a secure location. You won’t be able to see it again.

Copy the Client ID & Client Secret and securely share these with Lookout. If you are unsure how to share these details securely, ask a Lookout team member.

Upon receiving the Client ID and Secret, Lookout will install and set up the sync.

After successful completion, all keys will be removed from local devices and stored in our secure server.
